a hard day

Today was one of those hard parenting days.

As I type this, Jude is wailing from his crib, CIO, and has been for about 30 minutes (of course I check on him every 5 minutes). I don't know what is wrong. He just wants to stay up, or is over tired, or he's at that developmental stage when he's newly crawling, sitting up, pulling up, et cetera and doesn't want to go to sleep.

He's been a challenge all day.

Usually its Ethan who drives me around the bend on a daily basis, mostly because he's full throtle into his Evil Kenevil phase, and he's a bit too rambuctious and physical with Judie. And he doesnt listen, blah blah toddler stuff blah.

Jude, like, OVERNIGHT, has leapfrogged into toddlerhood.

He refuses to lie down - be it bedtime, diaper changes (which results in tearful (for both of us) wrestling/pinning matches to get a diaper then clothes on him several times a day). He wants to climb up on stuff. He wants to kneel/stand. He wants to take Ethan's toys. He wants his independence, dammit. And of course, now, he's getting a few bumps DAILY between his own tumbles and Ethan's exhuberance (just today E smacked him, twice, with Lego's, which leave a nasty mark).

Lets chalk this one up for a trying day. I need wine. Of course, tonight is a day Troy's out late - likely not even home before Ethan goes to bed.

*whimper*

I just don't know how I'm going to handle two toddlers!!!! Posted by Picasa

We all have periods of time like that, sugar! Hang in there - the times of equilibrium and disequilibrium will ebb and flow.

There may be a day when you will be glad to be at the office! Is this nature enabling you to separate from total responsibility for every hour with them? You are strong and so capable...you have had harder days than these in the past. Soon thy will be 14 and 16.......THAT will be hard!! Love Nan
